Centre mulling upgrade IRCTC to Navratna status: CMD

The centre may upgrade Indian Railway Catering And Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to Navratna status, company Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Kumar Jain said Thursday. Speaking at the 11th PHDCCI Global Rail Convention, Jain the decision to upgrade IRCTC from Miniratna to Navratna is still being discussed. Once all approvalos are in place, IRCTC board can invest up to Rs 1,000 crore as per its own discretion.

Jain said IRCTC will scale up its presence as a payment aggregator and ticketing beyond railways.
