Bids called for developing bullet train station at Mumbai’s BKC

Bids have been invited for the design and construction of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) high speed rail station in Mumbai. A statement from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the institution implementing the bullet train project, said that this will be the only underground station in Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.

In a tweet, Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that these bids have been called. His tweet also stated that bids for the project can be submitted by October 20 and will be opened the next day. The period of work has been specified as 1638 days (roughly 4 years) in the tender document.
The station will have 6 platforms and length of each platform is approximately 415 metres (m). It will be sufficient to accommodate a 16 coach bullet train. The station will have connectivity with metro and road, the statement added.


Dedicated skylight provisions have also been made for natural lighting.

The amenities planned for passengers at the stations include security, ticketing, waiting areas, business class lounge, nursery, rest rooms, and smoking rooms. There will also be Information Kiosks and incidental retail, Public Information and announcement system, and CCTV surveillance, among others.

The platform is planned at a depth of about 24 m from the ground level. There will be three floors including platform, concourse and service floor.

In addition to BKC Station, this tender also includes cut and cover length of 467 metres (m) and ventilation Shaft of 66 m. This shaft will also be used for taking out the tunnel boring machine.
