Bengaluru's Namma metro 2nd longest after Delhi metro

After the opening of the 4.8 km stretch of the metro between MG Road and Magadi Road, Namma Metro has become the second longest metro system in the country.

After the opening of the underground stretch of the 4.8 km of the metro rail system between MG Road and Magadi Road, Namma Metro has become the second longest metro system in the country (in terms of operational length), surpassing the Kolkata Metro which started operations in 1984.

As of date, the Delhi Metro remains the country’s longest network with a whopping 213 km and another 136 km under construction. With the Lucknow Metro about to become the newest metro system in India – it starts operations end of this year – this newest mode of travel in cities is proving to be a viable alternative to crowded and polluted roads
