Bengaluru Metro to link Magadi Road, Mysuru Road by month-end
Metro services between the Mysuru Road and Magadi Road stations are expected to begin either this month end or next month.
“The final stages of our trial are over. We are currently doing the documentation of the trial run. We should be ready in about a week's time to go before the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for inspection, and clearance,“ Bangalore Metro managing director Pradeep Singh Kharola told ET.
The 6.4-km stretch is part of the 18.10km east-west corridor or purple line and will cover six stations at Deepanjalinagar, Attiguppe, Vijayanagar and Hosahalli besides the Mysuru Road and Magadi Road end points. At the other end, six stations between Byappanahalli and MG Road are already in use.
The Centre has appointed CRS, Southern Circle at Bengaluru, for safety certifi cation operations of Namma Metro project, and the CRS is known to take about two weeks for inspection to clear a section for operations if they find it meeting the safety standards.
At another level, the metro authorities are preparing themselves to begin the trial run of metro cars in the underground section between the Chinnaswamy cricket stadium and Magadi Road in the first week of September. This 4.8-km underground line is the critical link of connectivity and the commissioning of the entire east-west metro corridor hinges upon the opening of this tunnel for operation.
“By the end of this year, we will be ready for Railway Safety Commissioner's inspection of this stretch,“ said Kharola.
