Ashwini Vaishnaw: How NATM technology completed 5km of 21km Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train tunnel

India’s first high-speed rail corridor achieved a major engineering milestone as the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) successfully excavated the first 5-kilometer stretch of the project's 21-kilometer tunnel using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM). With excavation complete near Ghansoli, work has now transitioned to the structural stage, involving specialized gantries for waterproofing, drainage installation, and final concrete lining to ensure long-term durability.
