The railway lines between Kesamudram-Intakanne and Tadla Pusapalli-Mahabubabad have been critically affected, with the embankment being washed away by floodwater. This section is a crucial link connecting Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra with Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Additionally, floodwater in the surrounding areas has hindered repair efforts by railway personnel.
At Rayanapadu in Vijayawada, a major junction on the Hyderabad-Vizag route, the station experienced significant flooding with water levels reaching up to six feet, causing extensive disruption to railway services. In response, special trains were arranged from Vijayawada to assist affected passengers.
SCR's General Manager, Arun Kumar Jain, inspected restoration works on the Intakanne-Kesamudram section and instructed teams to expedite the restoration efforts on a 24x7 basis to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
On Sunday night, special trains were arranged from Vijayawada and passengers from several trains were transported from Kondapalli railway station to Vijayawada by RTC buses to accommodate those affected by the disruption.

"The rains have affected rail infrastructure and the loss is under assessment. The restoration of the railway embankment has become a difficult task due to the flood. We expect the train services to resume in a day or two, depending on the progress of the restoration work," a senior SCR official mentioned.
Railway authorities have been mobilizing extensive resources, manpower, machinery, and materials to repair the affected tracks as promptly as possible, aiming to mitigate the inconvenience faced by passengers.
"Refund of fare is being granted and special arrangements have been made at stations for passengers of cancelled trains and also for trains which are delayed by more than three hours, upon cancellation of their tickets. For trains cancelled, a full refund of fare is automatically granted to the passengers, who booked their tickets online through IRCTC," detailed an official.
Efforts continue with the hope of resuming normal train services soon, depending on the progression of the ongoing restoration work.
