Agnipath protests: Railways cancels 529 trains

Amid calls for a Bharat Bandh on Monday and protests in various parts of the country against the new Armed Forces recruitment scheme, trains acorss the nation have been cancelled.

While 539 trains were affected, 529 trains were cancelled, including 181 mail/express trains and 348 passengers trains, the Railways said in a statement.

Cancelled trains include 18 East-bound trains and 71 Delhi area-bound commuter trains (including return services)


Train services of the Western Railway zone were affected yesterday as well.

States including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and others have increased security, in anticipation of widespread violence.

The Railways also partially cancelled four mail/express trains.
