After Namma Metro, Bengaluru may get Pod Cars for public transport

The BBMP is exploring the concept of a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system, which the civic body hopes will address the problem of last-mile connectivity.

Fancy a ride on a car-sized pod that could cost the same as or less than an autorickshaw?

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is exploring the concept of a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system, which the civic body hopes will address the problem of last-mile connectivity. Six stretches have been identified for the phased implementation of PRT, totalling up to 35.5 km. The civic body will reach out to companies by floating an expression of interest this week, municipal commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said. Only five cities in the world have an operational personal rapid transit system. Bengaluru could be the sixth, if the BBMP has its way. ET has more details:
