A total of 153 gondolas or cabins, each holding ten passengers, will be used. Adding to that Cantt to Gudaulia can be reached in 16 minutes as opposed to the current travel time of at least 45 minutes.

Features of the Varanasi Ropeway Project
This is the first urban ropeway project under Parvatmala Pariyojana. Also, It can move 3,000 people an hour in each direction.

Project map for the Varanasi Ropeway
The Passenger Ropeway from Varanasi Cantt station to Godowlia was officially opened by the prime minister. Five stations will be included in the 3.75 km long ropeway system: Vidya Peeth, Bharatmala Mandir, Rath Yatra, Girja Ghar, and Godowlia Chowk. It will make moving around Varanasi easier for pilgrims, tourists, and locals.
