Wipro Infrastructure Engineering aerospace starts construction of second unit

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering's (WIN) aerospace business wing has started construction of its second plant in Aerospace Special Economic Zone near Bengaluru airport.

This plant, which is spread over 10 acres, will house Aerostructure Machining and Surface Treatment Lines for Aerospace components, said the company in a press release. Once fully operational, the facility would employ 300 people.

"This is important to our success," said Pratik Kumar, CEO, WIN, adding that the company's aerospace facilities would now be spread over 17 acres with more capacity.


The first plant, spread over seven acres, manufactures hydraulic actuator parts for Landing Gears and Engine Cowl Opening Systems. The company also manufactures aero structural parts. In January this year, the company's aerospace wing began deliveries to Boeing from this plant.

"Over the years Wipro Aerospace has built its capability in precision actuator and aerostructure parts. With this expansion, we will be well positioned for assembly and testing of actuators as well as critical landing system structural assemblies," said Srinivas Devareddy, Head of Aerospace Business in India.
