Vistara to soon offer inflight calling, internet services
Tata group company Nelco announced it has partnered with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to offer in-flight communication (IFC) services.
“We are delighted Nelco is spearheading in providing the long awaited aero in-flight connectivity services,” said PJ Nath, managing director of the Mumbai-based satellite communication and enterprise services company.
Nath said it is up to the carrier to decide tariff and that the service can be offered via a frequent-flyer scheme or as part of business-class offering. Vistara’s chief commercial officer Vinod Kannan said the airline will enable IFC services in as many as 10 aircraft, including the 787 Dreamliner, by next year.
“We have not decided on tariff or plans. We’ll soon close commercials after discussions with our partners by early March,” Kannan said. According to Nath, Nelco is working with some India-bound international carriers for tieups.
