Vistara to get flying licence next week

The airline has cleared its proving flights, and would get its flying licence after the US- based FAA completes the audit of the DGCA.

MUMBAI: As uncertainty looms large on the survival of SpiceJet, Vistara, a new airline promoted by heavyweights, Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, will get the crucial operating permit from the DGCA next week. Government sources say the airline may get its Air Operators Permit (AOP) or flying licence by December 15, 2014. The airline has cleared its proving flights, which is the final stage of getting an AOP last week, and would get its flying licence after the US-based Federal Aviation Authority completes the audit of the DGCA. The FAA audit, clearing it will upgrade the Indian aviation market to Category I from Category II now, of DGCA begins on December 8 and goes on till December 12.
