Vistara to fly to Dubai & Abu Dhabi, to hire pilots for international expansion

Industry insiders say that the airline would be targeting Indians, who want to come back, and qualified expats who may be interested in working for an Indian carrier.

NEW DELHI: In a move to prepare itself for the international operations likely to start in May next year, Vistara has announced to recruit pilots from Gulf by launching international recruitment show in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

"We are conducting an international recruitment road show for experienced captains and first officers in Dubai on october 9 and 10th and in Abu DHabi on October 11," the airline announced on its social networking platforms.

While Indian airlines keep hiring expats to meet their pilot requirements, this would probably be the first time that an Indian airline is openly advertising it and taking the battle to their court.

"The gulf carriers routinely have similar advertisements in India to target Indian pilots and cabin crew, and typically don't even bother to respect notice periods. But this would be the first time by an Indian carrier," said an industry insider, who did not want to be identified.
