Vistara-JAL pact allows passenger to buy single ticket for combined itineraries
Tata-SIA joint venture Vistara today said it has tied up with Japan Airlines (JAL), which would allow a passenger to purchase a ticket in Japan or India for combined itineraries.
The move indicates the airline's future intentions of flying abroad. It is waiting for the government to relax rules of overseas flying.
With the agreement with Japan Airlines, customers can initially buy tickets on either airline for combined itineraries on JAL and Vistara.
"Future enhancements could include inter-airline through check-in facilities, lounge access and codesharing," said a statement from the company.
Japan Airlines operates daily nonstop services between Tokyo and Delhi.
The general sales agent, ASI will provide reservations, ticketing and sales services directly in the country.
In September, Vistara appointed Sharaf Travels LLC as its GSA for the Gulf countries and opened its first overseas sales office in Dubai. Sharaf Travels now represents Vistara in the GCC territories of UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
