Trichy airport gets swankier
The new integrated terminal building of the Trichy international airport, constructed by the consolidated construction consortium, is to be inaugurated by External Affairs Minister, P Chidambaram.
The Rs 46 crore project is part of the Rs 75 crore modernisation plan commenced early in 2007 for the airport.
The two-storeyed new building, covering an area of 11,777 sq m comprises of a public concourse, landscape court, VIP lounges, CIP (commercially important persons) lounges. It can handle a passenger flow of 400, double its previous capacity.
The airport expansion plan includes construction of a service block, car parking, overhead tank of 1 lakh litre and underground sump of 5 lakh litre capacity.
