Travel Food Services to manage lounge operations at Terminal 2 of Mumbai Airport

Considered one of the largest business opportunities at the new terminal, TFS said it will manage the lounges in partnership with Performa, a company owned by global travel services group Gategroup.

NEW DELHI: Food and beverage operator Travel Food Services (TFS) has announced that it has won the bid to manage the lounge operations at Terminal 2 of the upcoming GVKChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport, Mumbai, which is set to be operational later this year.

Considered one of the largest business opportunities at the new terminal, TFS said it will manage the lounges in partnership with Performa, a company owned by global travel services group Gategroup.

TFS, with existing operations at Mumbai and Delhi airports runs proprietary restaurant brands including Dilli Streat, Cafeccino, Curry Kitchen and Noodle Wok. It also has alliances with large restaurant chains including KFC, Domino's Pizza, Haagen-Dazs, and Cafe Coffee Day, to provide food and beverages at airports through these brands.

TFS' new mandate will include staffing, catering and operations at airline lounges, a statement from the firm said. Commenting on the development, TFS chairman Sunil Kapur said in a statement: "We will leverage our existing strengths in the travel food business for the new opportunity."

This is TFS' second association with a Gategroup company. It has an existing JV with Gate Gourmet, operating under the TFS-Gate brand name and focused on developing food and beverage-on-board services for domestic low-cost carriers.
