Ten institutions seek Govt's permission to set up helipads
UB Group, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital and AIIMS, have sought govt permission to set up roof-top helipads.
Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour, he said guidelines for heliport planning, physical characteristics, infrastructure, markings and safety services for construction of roof-top helipads have been issued by the DGCA.
Only institutions meeting the guidelines are permitted to operate helicopter services from roof-tops, Patel said.
So far, only Essar Group and Taj Wellington Mews (both in Mumbai) have been given authorisation for helicopter operations from their roof-top heliports, he said.
Patel said the ten proposals pending with DGCA are from Adtiya Birla Memorial Hospital, Pune; United Breweries (Holdings) Ltd, Bangalore; Satnam Realtors, Mumbai; Bai Kabibai & Hansraj Morarji Charity Trust, Mumbai; KKJ Foundation, Ernaculam; G-Crop Project, Bangalore; Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre; AIIMS, New Delhi; Devi Construction Co, Pune and Brigade Enterprises, Bangalore (two proposals).
Patel said state governments should provide infrastructrue support and incentives like lowering of sales tax on fuel to encourage setting up of heliports.
India, he said, will shift to satellite controlled navigation after the launch of a satellite sometime next year.
