New Delhi, SriLankan Airlines on Wednesday announced the appointment of Vipul Misra as the acting Chief Executive Officer.

Misra, a native of Kanpur, will continue to head of the airline's engineering division.

SriLankan Airlines is the national carrier of Sri Lanka. As per its website, the airline has a fleet of 23 aircraft, including 10 A330s.


"Bringing over two decades of aircraft engineering and aviation leadership experience, Misra's background spans across significantly large commercial carriers including AirIndia, Vistara, Indigo, SpiceJet, Kingfisher Airlines, and Air Deccan," SriLankan Airlines said in a release on Wednesday.

Misra's comprehensive expertise across legacy, full-service, and low-cost carriers is expected to provide strong technical and operational direction during this interim period as the carrier works towards enhancing its performance and long-term sustainability, the release said.

Among other qualifications, Misra has completed diploma in aircraft maintenance engineering from Delhi Flying Club and masters in aerospace law from NALSAR in Hyderabad, according to information available on his LinkedIn profile.
