NEW DELHI: No-frills carrier SpiceJet today announced the launch of daily flights from Kolkata and Chennai to Port Blair from October five.

Port Blair would be the 16th destination that SpiceJet would be flying.

The low-cost airline would launch these services with the induction of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

With the new flights, the airline would be operating 96 flights daily.

"..Looking at the limited flight service and witnessing the rising number of tourists travelling to Port Blair, we aim to fill this gap by connecting the island to Chennai and Kolkata," SpiceJet Executive Chairman Siddhanta Sharma said.
