SpiceJet ignites fare war again; offers 30% discount on 30-day advance bookings

SpiceJet's 'Second Chance' sale offers 30% discount on 30-day advance bookings made for travel on Mondays to Thursdays till April 15.

NEW DELHI: SpiceJet, the Delhi-based low-cost carrier which sparked off a fare war last week, has once again come up with a similar discount scheme. The airline announced a 'Second Chance' sale for its customers, but this time it is offering 30% discount on 30-day advance bookings made for travel on Mondays to Thursdays till April 15. Last week's discount was a 50% discount sale on 30-day advance bookings for travel till April 15.

Due to the offer, a one-way Delhi-Mumbai fare which is Rs 10,098 for a last minute booking can be purchased for Rs 3,617.

"After the grand success of the Spring Super Sale and in response to a deluge of requests to repeat the offer from those who missed it the first time, we are pleased to announce the Second Chance Super Sale," said Sanjiv Kapoor, chief operating officer, SpiceJet.

SpiceJet's competitor IndiGo's website also showed some tickets to be on 'Sale'. It is not immediately known whether the tickets were part of the unsold inventory from last week discount offering.

Last week's discount led to a spike in sale of nearly 300% on travel websites like Yatra.com and MakeMyTrip.com.
