Govt plans to roll out the digi yatra service at two airports in Hyderabad and Bangalore that will later be extended to Varanasi, Kolkata, Pune and Vijaywada in the next one to three months
Initially, government plans to roll out this service at two airports in Hyderabad and Bangalore, and later be extended to Varanasi, Kolkata, Pune and Vijaywada in the next one to three months.
Passengers can avail the service on the voluntary basis, but current system of showing paper tickets and ID cards will also continue at all airports for those who do not wish to participate in the voluntary digi yatra service.
Here is how it works and ways to avail the service:
* To avail the service, a passenger will need to generate a unique DY ID number using the aviation ministry's portal.
* You can create unique DY ID using any government issued I-cards like Aadhaar, driving licence, voter card etc.
* Airline would share the passenger data and the ID with the airport at least six hours before the flight
* Passenger's travel details like flight number will automatically be known at e-gates.
* DY ID created will be authenticated during the first travel by the passenger at the airport. In the authentication process, the ID of the passenger will be verified and validated by an authorised security officer and activate the DY ID
