NEW DELHI: In an attempt to improve services, national carrier Air India today announced that senior executives of the airline will undertake surprise checks to monitor and supervise the safety and cleanliness inside and outside the aircraft.

This is being done "to offer its passengers enhanced cabin experience, with increased emphasis on improving and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety on its aircraft. To be managed by dedicated senior management of ED-level, immediate action will be taken on the feedback shared by the passengers, cabin crew and cabin engineers," said a release from the airline.

The measures have been put in place following Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani’s visits to all the engineering bases of the airline in the last one week, viz Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, where he inspected facilities, procedures and got a first-hand feedback from employees and management, said a release from the airline.
