Qatar Airways unveils expansion plans for India

Doha-based air-carrier, Qatar Airways, plans to expand its operations in India with new routes.

MUMBAI: Doha-based air-carrier, Qatar Airways, plans to expand its operations in India with new routes.

"The expansion in India will see new routes of Goa and Amritsar coming under our fold," the company said in a statement here.

The two new routes-Amritsar and Goa-will boost Qatar Airways Indian capacity from 9 to 11 destinations, it said.

The expansion is part of the airlines ongoing growth strategy-a-long-term commitment to develop its route infrastructure as new aircraft join the fleet at an average delivery rate of one a month.

The airline currently has on order more than 200 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft worth over USD 40-billion.

Qatar Airways robust expansion is continuing undeterred by the current economic climate, Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker, said.
