NEW DELHI: Pratt & Whitney has ensured the Directorate General Civil Aviation ( DGCA) they would offer large percentage of their engines to Indian carriers to address the issue of planes being grounded.

"They have assured us that they will provide about 40% of their engineers new made to Indian carriers. We wanted them to do that because a large number of aircraft are grounded due to want of engines," said a senior DGCA official, who did not want to be identified.

He added that the engine delivery will expedite from last week of September.

About 10 Airbus 320 (neo) - 8 of IndiGo and 2 of GoAir - are grounded in India.
