The Directorate of Enforcement is looking into alleged FEMA violations by Jet Airways, but the Income Tax Department has not found any illegality in matters relating to remittance received by the airliner.

NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Enforcement is looking into alleged FEMA violations by Jet Airways, but the Income Tax Department has not found any illegality in matters relating to remittance received by the airliner, the Lok Sabha was informed on Friday.

As enquiries by the directorate are underway, disclosure of details will hamper proper completion of the procedure, Minister of State for Finance SS Palanimanickam told the house in a written reply.

"Investigation carried out by the Income Tax Department has not revealed any remittance received by Jet Airways other than through the banking channels," he said.

Palanimanickam was replying to a question as to whether Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Directorate of Enforcement and the Reserve Bank are conducting investigations pertaining to Jet Airways on alleged legality, status of ownership rights, sources of funding and whether the airliner received remittances illegally.

Allegations were earlier levelled against Jet Airways for having links with terrorist masterminds like Dawood Ibrahim and outfits like Al-Qaida.
