Power failure at IGI: Government to form probe committee
Taking a serious note of the power outage at Indira Gandhi International Airport, the government said it will constitute a committee to probe.
"Government will form a five-member committee to probe Sunday's power failure at Delhi airport," Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi told reporters outside Parliament.
A five-hour power cut had brought operations at IGI airport's swanky T3 terminal to a standstill yesterday, delaying around 80 domestic and international flights and caused inconvenience to flyers.
The T3 terminal, which completed its first anniversary this July, had plunged into darkness between 1:25 am and 5:45 am. The problem started at around 1:25 am when one of the power transformers that supplies power to the terminal tripped due to an electrical fault.
Following the tripping, the power supply to entire building was disrupted and operations of baggage handling system, passenger boarding (aero) bridges, piers, escalators and travelators came to a standstill.
