Pawan Hans pays Rs 8.92 cr interim dividend to govt

State-run Pawan Hans Helicopters on Monday paid an interim dividend of Rs 8.92 crore to the government for the year 2007-08.

NEW DELHI: State-run Pawan Hans Helicopters on Monday paid an interim dividend of Rs 8.92 crore to the government for the year 2007-08.

The dividend cheque was handed over by Pawan Hans Helicopters (PHHL) Chairman and Managing Director R K Tyagi to Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, the company said in a statement.

The government owns about 80 per cent of equity in the company.

The company posted a profit after tax of Rs 25.1 crore for the financial year 2007-08 as compared to Rs 9.25 crore for the corresponding period last year.

Its operating profits rose to Rs 8.37 crore as compared to Rs 2.78 crore for the year 2006-07.

While the number of helicopters deployed by PHHL have risen to 24 from 21, its fleet service ability also rose to 74 per cent in 2007-08 as compared to 66 per cent during the corresponding period previous year.

PHHL is the nodal agency for creating heliports at Delhi and Mumbai and has recently signed an MoU with the Indian Air Force for inducting IAF pilots.

PHHL would start helicopter services to Vaishnodevi from Katra in Jammu from April 3, apart from locations like Lakshwadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and other North-East states.
