A Pawan Hans helicopter crashed into sea near Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. All seven people on board were rescued safely, PTI reported citing an official as saying.

The helicopter had taken off from Port Blair with two crew members and five passengers when the incident occurred. Authorities initiated local response measures soon after the landing.

“Around 9:30 a.m. today, a Pawan Hans helicopter experienced a short landing incident near Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The helicopter had taken off from Port Blair with two crew members and five passengers on board. All have been rescued and are safe. No injuries have been reported,” said a spokesperson for Pawan Hans.


Officials did not disclose further operational details. The company said standard procedures are being followed after the incident.

Pawan Hans operates helicopter services across remote and island regions, including the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago, providing connectivity between Port Blair and outlying areas.
