Part of Air India building catches fire at Nariman point

The flames, which took more than four hours to completely douse, gutted a fourth of the floor, destroying one of the waiting rooms.

MUMBAI: A fire broke out early Tuesday morning in the 22nd floor of the Air India building at Nariman point.

The flames, which took more than four hours to completely douse, gutted a fourth of the floor, destroying one of the waiting rooms. The floor also has the Air India chairman's cabin which was however unaffected. No casualties were reported.

Security personnel, at around 6:10 am, saw the flames on an LED screen connected to a CCTV camera on the floor. They called the fire department. The flames were doused and cooled off by 11 am.
