Indian airlines have cancelled their flights from various cities across North India including Srinagar that is shut down for operations in the wake of the armed forces carrying out missile strikes on terror targets in Pakistan.

Additionally, Delhi Airport on Wednesday issued a travel advisory for the passengers due to changing conditions in airspace after the 'Operation Sindoor.'

Indian armed forces early Wednesday carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Jaish-e-Mohamad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base Muridke.

What airlines are saying?
IndiGo also issued a travel advisory indicating that flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, and Bikaner are impacted due to changing airspace conditions in the region.

"Due to changing airspace conditions in the region, our flights to and from #Srinagar, #Jammu, #Amritsar, #Leh, #Chandigarh and #Dharamshala are impacted. We request you to check your flight status at https://bit.ly/31paVKQ before reaching the airport," said the airline in a post on social media platform X.

IndiGo also said more than 165 of its flights from multiple airports (Amritsar, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Gwalior, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Leh, Rajkot, and Srinagar) are cancelled until 05:29 am of May 10, 2025, due to government notification on airspace restrictions.

Meanwhile, Air India cancelled all its flights to and from the following places — Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot — until 12 noon on 7 May, pending further updates from the authorities. Additionally, two international flights en route to Amritsar were diverted to Delhi.

Additionally, Air India Express announced that multiple flights will be impacted including cancellations of flights to and from Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar, and Hindon till midday on May 7.

Adding to the disruption, SpiceJet announced that several airports in northern India — including Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ) — have been closed until further notice. Departures, arrivals, and connecting flights are likely to be affected, and passengers are advised to check flight status before traveling, said the airline.

Akasa Air also said due to the current situation in the region, Srinagar airport is closed for civilian flights. Akasa has cancelled flights to and from Srinagar.


Other international operations have also been impacted. Qatar Airways temporarily suspended flights to Pakistan due to the closure of Pakistani airspace. The airline said that it is closely monitoring the situation and has stated it will continue to prioritise the safety of passengers and crew.
