With metro connectivity and direct bus services still some time away, passengers travelling to the upcoming Noida International Airport will initially have to depend largely on cabs, bike taxis and private vehicles for last-mile connectivity, according to a report by Shafaque Alam, Times of India.

To address the gap, the airport has partnered with Mahindra Logistics Mobility to deploy electric taxis, and with ride-sharing platform Rapido to offer bike taxis and cab services from the airport premises. Both services will operate round the clock with designated pick-up and drop-off zones.

The airport is expected to serve a wide catchment area spanning around 150 km across 24 districts in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. State-run UPSRTC is planning to connect the airport to 17 districts in western Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Agra, Mathura and Aligarh, with potential extensions to Gurgaon and Faridabad.

Officials said dedicated airport bus services are under consideration, with options such as double-decker buses being explored depending on demand. Additionally, an MoU signed earlier with Uttarakhand Transport Corporation aims to introduce air-conditioned bus services linking Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Haldwani with the airport.

However, key public transport plans remain stalled. A proposal by the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities to roll out 500 city buses has been delayed due to funding constraints and infrastructure gaps.

At present, the absence of a metro link, lack of direct bus connectivity and restrictions on auto-rickshaws on expressways continue to pose significant last-mile challenges. Even major transit hubs such as Botanical Garden, connecting the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Aqua Lines lack direct connectivity to the airport, forcing passengers to rely on multiple transfers.

Residents and commuter groups have flagged concerns over unreliable bus services and limited options, warning that delays could lead to missed flights and urging authorities to introduce dedicated, seamless connectivity solutions.
