The government mandated all domestic flights will suspended from Tuesday midnight. International flights have already been suspended.
“For those who don’t have to be working during this temporary suspension of operations, we will make no deductions of salaries or leaves,” Ronojoy Dutta wrote in a communication Tuesday.
He said IndiGo would he spending its cash reserves on salaries and benefits. The airline last week implemented a top-down 5%-25% pay cut across its staff.
All operations are suspended till March 31. Dutta said IndiGo has a “reasonable level of forward bookings for April” and that the airline is “anxious” to resume flights albeit with a reduced capacity.
If the government doesn’t extend the shutdown, IndiGo will start domestic operations on April 1 and international at a later date, said Dutta.
