New international terminal to be completed by December: CM

The construction of the new international terminal at Thiruvananthapuram airport would be completed by the end of the year, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said on Saturday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The construction of the new international terminal at Thiruvananthapuram airport would be completed by the end of the year, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said on Saturday.

Inaugurating the construction works of the flyover and approach road to the airport at Chakka near here, he said the airport development society had undertaken a comprehensive plan for the new terminal at a cost of Rs 550 crore.

He said construction of aircraft maintenance hangar unit was progressing well.Acquisition of land for the Kannur airport had begun and project would become a reality in three years.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Vijayakumar, who presided over the function, said the Rajiv Gandhi Pilot Training Institute in the capital, the construction of which had been completed, would be inaugurated on June 12.

Pannyan Ravindran MP, Opposition Deputy Leader G Karthikeyan and Airport Director N Nagaraj were among those present.
