NETDC joins hands with Kingfisher to promote NE

The North East Tourism Development Council (NETDC) has made Kingfisher Airlines, its preferred airline for promoting tourism in the region.

KOLKATA: The North East Tourism Development Council (NETDC) has made Kingfisher Airlines, its preferred airline for promoting tourism in the region. As part of the alliance, Kingfisher will help NETDC to create awareness about holiday destinations and special packages on board its flights.

Kingfisher, in collaboration with the states tour operators, will be offering three packages from Dibrugarh, Guwahati and Agartala priced at around Rs 12,500 per person. This takes in airfare ex-Kolkata and the packages
include north-eastern tourist destinations including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.

We want to use the power of tourism to develop infrastructure, said Lt Genl Ajai Singh, chairman, NETDC and governor of Assam, at the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) organised two-day tourism meet where the partnership was announced. He further stressed on the fact that the north-east was now a completely safe destination for both tourism and investment. According to Mr Nazeeb Arif, secretary-general, ICC, the north-east presented good opportunities for investment in areas like accommodation projects, service-oriented projects, leisure projects and infrastructure development projects.
