Nanded, A helicopter manufacturing plant will be set up in Nanded in Maharashtra's Marathwada region at an estimated cost of Rs 4,250 crore, which is expected to generate around 1,800 to 2,000 direct employment opportunities and several indirect jobs, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan said on Thursday.

The plant, which will comprise manufacturing, assembly and spare parts facilities, will come up under an agreement between the state government and Retavia Private Limited, he added.

"The project will also provide engineering services as well as maintenance and repair facilities for helicopters. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made an announcement about this project in the assembly. The project will contribute to national initiatives of Make in India and Viksit Bharat promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," said Chavan.
