Mumbai: Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport's (CSMIA) Terminal 1 will be partially shut from Q3FY26 as it goes in for a redevelopment for almost three years to increase its capacity by 33% to handle 20 million passengers. The move is likely to impact some of the larger airlines like IndiGo and Air India.

Terminal 1 of the Mumbai airport and Navi Mumbai Airport's Terminal 2 are slated to open in 2029, just months apart. Airlines including IndiGo and Air India have requested that solutions be brought in to minimise inconvenience to the operations and are in negotiations on the same. "We are working with airlines to reduce disruptions to operations," a senior Adani official said.
