Mumbai Airport reported record 55.5 million passenger traffic in 2025, with domestic volumes hitting 39.2 million and international at 16.3 million, as strong seasonal demand helped strenghten its postition as India’s busiest gateway for overseas travellers.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) reported a 1.3% year-on-year growth in calendar year 2025 and a 7.6% rise as compared with 2023, a statement from the Airport said.

Among international travel destinations, The Middle East emerged on the top, with Dubai accounting for 15% of the overall share and Dubai holding 7.5%. London was the third most visited stations, also accounting for 7.5% share of the total international travel.


IndiGo led overseas travel alongside Air India and Emirates.

In domestic travel, Delhi recorded the most passenger traffic, accounting for 17% of the overall local travel, followed by Bengaluru with a 10% share and Goa with 6%.

Airlines IndiGo, Tata Group-owned Air India and Akasa Air led travels locally.

January 2025 was the busiest month for the Mumbai Airport, welcoming close to 5 million passengers, followed by November, which recorded about 4.9 million volumes. CSMIA said November was "particularly noteworthy" as it included three busiest days of the year.

Moreover, the October to December quarter also marked the Airport's highest quarterly passenger traffic, the statement showed.

"Connectivity expansion played a significant role during the year," CSMIA said, as it expanded services both internationally and domestically in 2025.
