Malaysian Airlines to enhance frequency from South India

The frequency of flights from Bangalore will be increased to four weekly flights from the current three, while the Chennai flights will be enhanced from seven to nine, a company statement said on Tuesday.

BANGALORE: Malaysian Airlines, the national carrier of Malaysia, will enhance its flight frequency from Bangalore and Chennai.

The frequency of flights from Bangalore will be increased to four weekly flights from the current three, while the Chennai flights will be enhanced from seven to nine, a company statement said on Tuesday.

The additional Bangalore fight will start operating every Saturday at 2200 hours from November 3 while the additional Chennai flights wil be operational from October 28 on Thursdays and Sundays at 1250 hours.

With these frequency enhancements, Malaysian Airlines' overall seat capacity from Chennai and Bangalore will increase to 3,607 from the present 2,920.

The airline will operate Airbus 330-300 and Airbus 330-200 on these routes.

With the addition of three weekly flights, the airline will now operate 30 weekly flights from its present five destinations in India - New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.

"Chennai and Bangalore are amongst the prominent growing gateways for Malaysia Airlines-South Asia operations. With the enhanced capacity, the airlines will be able to meet approaching Indian festivities and year-end holiday season demands", the company's Regional Manager (South Asia) Chistopher Yek said.
