Madurai becomes IndiGo's 42nd destination

"In line with IndiGo's strategic expansion plan, Madurai becomes the 37th domestic and 42nd overall destination providing enhanced connectivity to tourists and business travellers," said a release.

NEW DELHI: IndiGo, India's largest low-cost carrier in terms of market share, today announced its entry in Madurai with the launch of two flights.

"Effective today, IndiGo will operate a maiden flight from Delhi to Madurai via Chennai and return Madurai to Delhi with a touchdown in Chennai. In line with IndiGo's strategic expansion plan, Madurai becomes the 37th domestic and 42nd overall destination providing enhanced connectivity to tourists and business travellers," said a release from the airline.

By adding two more flights on this new sector, IndiGo now operates 883 daily flights. IndiGo is also commencing Madurai - Hyderabad daily flight from March 26, 2017, the release said.

"Madurai being a pilgrimage spot and a flourishing cultural hub in Tamil Nadu attracts tourists from across the globe. IndiGo's domestic network expansion program renders special attention to non-metro cities aimed at unlocking the tourism potential in these cities," Aditya Ghosh, President and Whole Time Director, IndiGo, was quoted in the release.
