Kingfisher ties up with Hublot for sale of watches

Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines on Thursday entered into a tie-up with Geneva-based Hublot for sale of premium watches aboard the carrier.

MUMBAI: Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines on Thursday entered into a tie-up with Geneva-based Hublot for sale of premium watches aboard the carrier.

Hublot, maker of premium watches, has launched Big Bang King watch in India. "This is the first time the watch is being launched globally from India. It is priced at USD 12,000," Hublot President Jean-Claude Biver told reporters.

The first watch was presented to Mallya. As part of the tie-up, Hublot would make 50 limited edition watches for Kingfisher. "These watches would be sold on Kingfisher First class, both domestic and international services," Mallya said.

Big Bang King watches would be available in India sometime next year because of the demand-supply mismatch.

"We can make 20,000 pieces per year, but the demand is for 40,000 watches," Biver said.
