Kingfisher defers its flights to Hong Kong, Singapore

MUMBAI: Private air carrier Kingfisher Airlines has said it has deferred its proposed flights to Hong Kong and Singapore from here due to some technical reasons.

Earlier, the Bangalore-based airline had announced its plan to launch the two flights from January 12 and 18, respectively.

"The Airbus A-330, delivered to Kingfisher, which were supposed to be deployed on the Hong Kong and Singapore routes, have some performance issues with the in-flight entertainment system," a Kingfisher Airlines spokesperson said today.

The manufacturer is about to release a new software upgrade which would solve these issues, the spokesperson said.

"The airline has decided to wait for the software upgrade to be carried out before deploying these aircraft into service on new international routes."

The Vijay Mallya-led airline, however, did not say when it plans to launch these services after the postponement.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson said Kingfisher's first flights operations from Bangalore and Chennai to Colombo on January 19 was very much on track.
