"All the passengers are safe," a Kingfisher airlines spokesperson said confirming the incident.

The passengers were immediately transferred to another flight to Baroda, the spokesperson said.

The incident occurred when the aircraft was pushing back from the parking bay at around 16.40 hours for the take-off.

"As Kingfisher Airlines flight IT 3193 was pushing back from its parking bay at Mumbai airport, it appears that on push-back the tow-bar pin sheared and the tow-bar tractor propelled forward and came in contact with the nose gear, which was damaged as a result," the spokesperson said.
