Kerala requests PM on flight service to Kuwait

Kerala CM wants PM to intervene on the issue of Kuwait deciding not to allow India's state-run airlines to land there from July 1.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan on Thursday asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene on the issue of the Kuwait government deciding not to allow India's state-run airlines to land in Kuwait from July 1.

In a message to the Prime Minister, Achuthanandan said out of six lakh Indians working in Kuwait, four lakh were from Kerala.

This decision would put the Keralites, who want to return home, in to difficulty since summer holidays were to begin from July, an official release said here.

The State government has received several complaints in this regard from various Kerala associations and individuals, Achuthanandan said.
