JetLite, which was earlier known as Air Sahara, currently flies on 27 routes and connects 34 cities. It’s planning to expand to other sectors to increase its aircraft operational efficiency. JetLite CEO Garry Kingshott told ET: “We are currently utilising our aircraft for just nine hours while four of our aircraft — one Boeing 737 & three CRJs — are grounded.
So, we are planning to lease around 6-8 Boeing 737 aircraft in the medium term while 10 new Boeing aircraft, which were booked by Air Sahara, will be joining our fleet from March 2009 and will fill the gap.”
The airline is aiming to start with six Gulf destinations and is awaiting government approval. It is also planning to fly a few destinations in South-East Asia by next year.
