Jet-Etihad deal will come up for discussion before the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on October 14.
The deal that recently got a nod from India’s cabinet will require final approval from the fair-trade regulator. Most experts, however, believe that the approval by the CCI is just a formality.
On the issue of Indian automakers abusing their dominant position by selling spare parts only through their dealership at a high price, Chawla said the issue was in courts.
Nissan India approached a Madras High Court to seek a stay order on the investigation by CCI. “Recently, Chennai court has passed a stay order challenging the jurisdiction of CCI to probe the matter,” said Chawla.
