Jet Airways plane's main landing gear collapses, close shave for passengers

NEW DELHI: About 120 passengers on Jet Airways flight 9W 354 between Delhi and Mumbai had a scare when the main landing gear developed a technical fault upon landing and Mumbai airport this evening.

The flight between Delhi and Mumbai had 120 passengers and 8 crew members on board.

"Flight 9W 354 upon landing in Mumbai reported a technical fault with the main landing gear. All 120 passengers and 8 crew were safely disembarked. As per preliminary assessment of the aircraft by the Jet Airways engineering team, the right hand main landing gear has been damaged. Efforts are currently underway for recovery of the aircraft from its location on taxiway N9. We wish to clarify that there was no fire in any part of the aircraft," said a statement from Jet Airways.

The airline added that It 'regrets the inconvenience caused to the guests and appreciates their co-operation.'
