Japan, India to boost flights between 2 nations

TOKYO: Japan and India are in final talks to quadruple the number of flights between the two nations by revising their bilateral aviation pact for the first time in 13 years.
Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to agree to the revision - a step that would boost business between the two Asian powers - with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh, during his visit later this year, the Yomiuri newspaper said.
If agreed, the revision would boost the current 11 weekly flights connecting the two countries up to 42 flights, the Yomiuri said.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss boosting cooperation in defense and to agree to speed up talks toward a bilateral free trade agreement. Abe has called for stronger ties between Japan and India.
