BANGALORE: The upcoming Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) in Devanahalli is on track to launch operations on April 2, 2008. Construction work at BIAL in Devanahalli has reached close to halfway mark with 42% of the work completed since the construction took off in August 2005. Asphalting work is in progress on the 4 km runway and around 23% of the roof element work is done at the terminal building.

The terminal building will have the capacity to handle around 11.5 million passengers when the airport will be launched in April 2008. Addressing a press conference, Albert Brunner CEO of BIAL said, “Out of the total investment of Rs 1,930 crore we have invested around Rs 300-Rs 400 crore on the construction work till now.”
