IRCTC authorised agent to book air tickets for government officials

NEW DELHI: State-owned IRCTC has been appointed as an authorised agent for booking air tickets for official tours of government employees.

"It has now been decided to include IRCTC as an authorised agent for the purpose of booking air tickets on government account," said a Finance Ministry office memorandum on guidelines on air travel on official tours and LTC.

Accordingly it said, if the services of a travel agent for booking air tickets on government account is to be availed of, "the services of IRCTC can also be availed of."

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been appointed in addition two other agents.

Government officials can also book their air tickets directly from booking counters or websites of airlines.

Air tickets for travel on LTC (Leave Travel Concession), to a limited extent, can also be get booked through IRCTC.

IRCTC has been set up by the Ministry of Railways with the basic purpose of hiving off its entire catering and tourism activity to the Corporation.

IRCTC has emerged as a popular portal for booking railway tickets.
