IndiGo to begin thrice-weekly flights between Kolkata and Purnea from September 15

IndiGo is set to launch direct flights between Kolkata in West Bengal and Purnean Bihar, starting 15 September 2025, the aviation giant said in a press release on Tuesday.

The new service will operate three times a week and marks the inauguration of Purnea’s airport. With this, Purnea becomes IndiGo’s 94th domestic and 137th overall destination, and the fourth city in Bihar to be connected by the airline after Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga.

The new route will be serviced using IndiGo’s ATR aircraft, providing travel options for passengers between Bihar’s Seemanchal region and Kolkata, a key hub in eastern India. Passengers can book tickets through IndiGo’s official website www.goIndiGo.in or via the mobile app.


The move is expected to stimulate trade, tourism, and overall economic activity in eastern India while enhancing connectivity to Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

The Purnea airport, developed under the UDAN scheme, is set to strengthen regional infrastructure, supporting agriculture, food processing, and emerging healthcare and education sectors.
